A 30-year-old woman died as a result of a large Candida parapsilosis septic thrombus
located on the tip of a Groshong catheter. The catheter had been in place for 28 months for
administration of a 27 month course of intravenous cefotaxime for an unsubstantiated
diagnosis of chronic Lyme disease.
