Fibrinolysis depends on the activation of a blood protease, plasminogen, by activators which
are found in small amounts in the circulating blood. The tissues also contain plasminogen
activators, fimily bound to cells and present in large but varied amounts. In this paper a
method of studying the topographical distribution of plasminogen activator in tissues will be
described.
